Calibration Services

NIST Traceable Calibration Services

Sensing Devices, Inc. has been providing a steady increase in calibration services since 1986. SDI's commitment to Platinum Thermometry and customer support continued in 1997, with the upgrade of the metrology equipment and lab services. Current capabilities include calibration of SPRT's, IPRT's, Sub-assemblies, and bare elements on the International Scale of 1990 (ITS-90).

System calibrations which include a thermometer and readout instrument can also be performed. This type of system calibration can allow the user to reduce measurement uncertainty or to simply verify a system's accuracy.

SDI performs all calibrations with primary standards directly traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Metrology Equipment

Automatic Systems Laboratories' F17 AC Resistance Thermometry Bridges with respective switch/channel boxes.

Automatic Systems Laboratories' Integrated Software which allows for PC communication and control of the bridges and channel boxes on a remote basis.

CalcTE Software Package - Contains multiple programs for thermometer calibrations. This package acts as a tool kit allowing the user to perform, analyze and print out custom calibration reports.

Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometers(SPRT's) - SDI uses Rosemount 162CE's as our primary temperature standards.

Fixed Standard Reference Resistors (FSRR's) - SDI uses Tinsley's "Wilkins" style fixed resistors as our primary resistance standards.

The following equipment are also used when performing calibration services.

Laboratory Procedures and Guidelines

SDI ensures quality calibration services through documented procedures and guidelines, which help establish repeatable and reproducible results. SDI has adopted NIST TN 1265 & BIPM's "Techniques for Approximating the ITS-90" for our laboratory practices. In addition, where appropriate, various standards and guide practices from ASTM are used.
